How it works

How Scope Repair Works, From First Call to Return Delivery

Four steps, no surprises, and a decision point that belongs to you rather than to us.

1

Tell us what failed

Send the manufacturer, model, and what you are seeing. A photo of the damage helps but is not required.

2

We collect the scope

Courier pickup across Southern California, or a prepaid shipping label in your inbox the same business day.

3

You get a written quote

We evaluate the device, document the failure, and price the repair. Nothing proceeds until you approve it.

4

Repaired, tested, returned

The device is repaired, leak and function tested, and returned with documentation for your records.

Most scopes come out of rotation in reprocessing rather than in the procedure room. That is why the person who first spots the problem is usually in sterile processing, and why we work to your department's schedule rather than a depot queue.

Manufacturers

Endoscope Brands and Manufacturers We Service

We service equipment from every major manufacturer in the OR and the endoscopy suite, including platforms the original maker no longer supports.

Specialty Surgical Services is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with or authorized by any manufacturer named on this page.

What an Independent Endoscope Repair Partner Actually Changes

When a scope goes down, the cost that hurts is almost never the invoice. It is the case that gets moved, the set that comes up short, and the reprocessing tech who has to explain why a device came back from the OR in a condition nobody wants to document. The repair itself is the easy part. Getting the device out of the building, diagnosed honestly, and back in rotation without a second failure is the part that separates vendors.

Original manufacturers solve this with exchange programs. You send in a device, you get a different one back, and you pay a price that was set before anyone looked at your scope. That works, and for some facilities it is exactly right. It also means you never learn what actually failed, and you slowly lose track of which serial numbers are in your inventory.

We do it the other way around. Your scope comes to us, we open it, we tell you in writing what is wrong and what it costs, and you decide. If you decline, you owe nothing and the device goes back to you. That single difference is why departments that have been burned by a surprise invoice tend to stay once they try an independent repair service. It is also the practical case for choosing an endoscope repair company over an exchange desk: you find out what failed, and you decide what happens next.

Medical Scope Repair Across Every Specialty You Support

Most facilities do not have one scope problem. They have a GI department running colonoscopes and gastroscopes six days a week, an OR running rigid telescopes through steam sterilization, a urology service that goes through flexible ureteroscopes faster than anyone budgets for, and an ENT clinic with a drawer of rhinolaryngoscopes nobody has looked at closely in a year.

Splitting that across three vendors creates three sets of paperwork, three turnaround schedules, and three different answers to the same question. We handle flexible endoscope repair and rigid telescope work under one account, along with the camera heads and couplers and the fiber optic light cables that fail alongside them and get blamed on the scope.

That matters more than it sounds. A dim image is diagnosed as a scope problem far more often than it should be, when the actual fault is a light cable that has lost half its fibers. Having one vendor look at the whole chain is how that gets caught instead of repeated.

Surgical Scope Service That Starts With Diagnosis, Not a Price List

Every device that arrives is evaluated before it is quoted. For a flexible scope that means a full leak test, channel patency check, articulation range, and image assessment. For a rigid telescope it means optical inspection through the relay, autoclave seal integrity, and shaft straightness. We document what we find, including the things you did not ask about.

The quote you get back is itemized, so you can see the difference between the repair that puts the device back in rotation and the additional work that would extend its life. Plenty of departments approve the first and defer the second, and that is a perfectly good decision when you can see both.

If a device is not worth repairing, we will say so. A scope with a compromised working channel and a history of fluid invasion is often better retired than rebuilt, and telling you that costs us a repair order but saves you from paying twice. You can read more about how we handle the bench work on our quality and process page, or start with a failed leak test if that is what brought you here.

Questions we get

Endoscope Repair Questions From SPD and Biomed Teams

Can you repair a scope that already failed a leak test?
Yes, and that is one of the most common reasons a device arrives here. A failed leak test means the outer seal has been breached somewhere, and the important thing is that the scope does not go through another reprocessing cycle before it reaches us. Take it out of rotation, keep it dry, and call. Our leak testing and leak repair page covers what happens next.
Do we have to ship the scope, or will someone collect it?
Both options exist. Across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties we collect the device from your facility and return it the same way. Anywhere else in the country, we email a prepaid shipping label so nothing goes on your freight account.
Will using a third party affect the manufacturer warranty on our scopes?
It can, depending on the device and the terms you signed, so it is worth checking before you send anything that is still inside an OEM coverage period. Most of the equipment that reaches an independent shop is well past that point. If a device is still covered, we will tell you rather than quietly repair it.
What information do you need before you can quote a repair?
The manufacturer, the model number if you have it, and a plain description of what you are seeing. A photograph of the damage helps but is not required. We do not quote a final price from that alone, because a written quote after an actual evaluation is more useful to you than a guess.
Do you work with ambulatory surgery centers and small practices?
Yes. A single-room endoscopy suite with four scopes gets the same evaluation and the same written quote as a hospital system. An endoscope repair company that only wants large accounts is not much use to a two-room center, so the process here is the same either way. Volume changes the logistics, not the bench work.
Which manufacturers can you service?
Every major brand in the OR and endoscopy suite, including legacy platforms the original manufacturer has stopped supporting. Our manufacturers page lists them individually. We are an independent provider and are not affiliated with or authorized by any of them.
