Why Legacy Urology Scope Inventory Still Belongs in Rotation

This page works differently from the rest of the brand pages on this site. ACMI and Circon equipment is not current inventory anywhere, and the original support pathway for it closed a long time ago. What did not happen is the equipment stopping work. A rigid cystoscope built two decades ago with an intact relay and a straight shaft still produces a perfectly usable image today.

That leaves a lot of departments in an awkward position. The device functions, the capital budget has no line for replacing it, and the maker has no interest in it. Independent repair is frequently the only remaining way to keep the asset in service, which is the entire reason shops like ours exist for equipment this old.

Cystoscope Repair When the Factory Channel Has Closed

The honest part of this work is the evaluation. Not every old device is worth rebuilding, and a shop that says yes to everything is doing you no favors. A telescope with a shattered rod lens stack, a spread sheath, and a bowed shaft is three repairs stacked on an asset with no residual value, and we will say so.

What we will also say is when the opposite is true, which is more often than most departments expect. A single failed seal or one cracked lens on an otherwise sound device is a straightforward job. Rigid Telescope, Sheath, and Bridge Work on Older Sets

Age shows up in the fit before it shows up in the optics. Sheaths spread slightly, bridges stop seating square, and locking mechanisms wear until the assembly has play it should not have. The room reports a bad image, but the actual fault is a telescope no longer held on axis inside its own sheath.

We evaluate the set as it is used rather than component by component, which is the only way that fault gets found.
